Student Showcase Rules & Guidelines

Here is everything that you need to know about getting started.

Show Day

Depending on the number or participants, we may need to split the showcase into two shows. Students will not be able to choose which show they perform in, so please account for being available the entire day until cast lists are finalized as noted below.

Final deadline to sign up for the Student Showcase is Sunday, March 15th.

Performer Policies

All performers must be active Essence students.

Performance Length
Each student will receive up to 3:30 minutes of performance time. This can be one full piece, two medium pieces, or three mini pieces.

Performance Type
Solo, duo, or group performances are welcome. Each participant must sign up individually even when in group performances. If you are doing a solo piece AND a group piece, you only need to sign up once. If you are in a group piece, please notify us at contact@essencestudiopole.com so that we have an accurate understanding for the number of performances.

Performances can be pole work, floorwork, chair work, heelography, dance, tricks, you name it! Your performance does not need to follow a competition style format.

Props
Allowed with approval. No boas, glitter, or liquid props.

Attire
No nudity; nipples must be covered for all genders. Pasties are allowed. There is no required dress code, be creative!

Studio culture
All performances must reflect our supportive and inclusive studio culture, free from hate, harassment, or discrimination.

Poles
Two poles are available for use, You do not need to use both poles (or poles at all) and will be able to determine if ones on spin, ones on static, both, etc. Poles are spaced 6.5 feet apart.

Entry Fee
$25.00, this fee directly supports event enhancements for our performers.

Show Policies

This is a private, adult-only show limited to Essence staff, students, and performers’ friends & family.
All audience members must be18.

Important Dates to Note

• Final date to sign up: Sunday, March 15th

• Final cast listing and the number of shows will be finalized between March 16th and 23rd.

• VIP performer tickets (immediate family and friends) will become available March 24rd - March 29th. Each performer will be allotted a specific number of VIP tickets.

• Additional tickets will go on sale Monday, March 30th.

• All performers are required to complete a submission form detailing their concept, song, and performance details due Thursday, April 9th. (Will be provided at a later date)

• Final cast lineup announcement per show Monday, April 13th.
